Kazakhstan Though: Part 1

Hello my name is Darren Heslop a dancer, dance tutor and choreographer known as Tiger. This is my first proper blog. Many more to come .

Now let me share my experience with you of a place called …Kazkahstan

(hold your Borat jokes)

My 7 hour flight from London felt like I was flying in a flying aero-thingy. Think it’s called an Aeroplane? As I was flying over dragons and sea monsters, night approached the plane through the gaps of the stars. I looked through the windows (otherwise known as windows) and saw beautiful colours laid on top of one an other of red, orange, yellow and blue, resting upon the clouds. Looked like your crayola pencil case at school.

At this time I was listening to some classic love longs on my ipod, from Joe to Marvin Gaye. Knowing that I was going to a far away country to live for almost a year, laying down on my side ( seats next to me were free) looking out of the window opposite me, with these stunning colours above the clouds layered up in a line, flying closer and closer to the stars whilst listening to those lovely soulful songs…I felt like I was on an romantic date…with myself…pffft…wasted mood

As we began our descent on to the landing strip (I like that song Strip by Chris Brown just saying) I saw these immense mountains covered on top with the whitest snow shining in the bright shining Sun. The same mountains i’d been researching for the last few months

…so it begins
As I landed in Kazakhstan, my first thoughts were
“Hope I do a good job here”
“What time is it in England right now?”
“The apple juice here best be good or i’m going back home, raggo, you get me blood jeeeze…yo”
And of course, happy we survived the journey!

It’s amazing how planes can take you from one country to the next, or even disappear completely (message!)

The studios look…amazing…like seriously

My first dance duty is choreographing a flash mob for Unidance Dance Company Kazkahstan. Nothing too hard though as these particular people doing the routine are not dance students

Oh yeah on my second day which was basically my first “day”. Two groups of people wanted to take pictures with me LOL. The builders of the studios and some random people in the park!
Also strangers saying hello on the street and out of their cars, what a welcome, and it’s just day 2 😮
I have my own flat which is nice, I believe i’ll have a flat mate at some point, another teacher. But hopefully not lol
So been having fun exploring this city (Almaty) on my own and also with a couple friends i’ve made 🙂
Also crossing the roads was a culture shock…that’s all i’ll say on that

And the weather is HOT! You know when you have to walk around your home in only your boxers

Spicy Bum…I mean “Spasiba”
If anyone read all this then I love you too :p
